The French actor Vincent Lindon received the Honorary Giraldillo from the Seville European Film Festival during its opening gala, which will take place next Friday, 4th November, in the Lope de Vega Theater in Seville.
With more than 25 years in the profession and a filmography that includes over 60 titles, Vincent Lindon is one of the most sought after actors in French cinema, where he has built a solid career, showing his versatility in moving from one genre to another, for which he is also one of the most international names in the French film industry. Over the course of his career, he has portrayed a range of characters, committed, decent, devastated, aligned, fighters, roles which he chooses by frequently favouring a cinema that tackles social dramas and human conflicts, a world in touch with reality and the problems of the middle class.
Lindon has worked with such well known directors as Claire Denis, Alain Cavalier, Claude Lelouch, Benoît Jacquot, Coline Serreau or Mathieu Kassovitz. One of his latest characters was Thierry Taugourdeau in La Loi du marché by Stéphane Brizé, his longtime director, which earned him the Best Actor Award in 2015 at the 68th edition of the Cannes Festival, the first great recognition which the 57 year old actor has received in his long career. The latest film in which he has starred and which will be released in 2017 is a biopic of the sculptor Auguste Rodin, directed by Jacques Doillon.
It was also Stéphane Brizé who directed Une Vie, the film which will open the Seville European Film Festival. It had its premiere at the last Venice Mostra where it won the Fipresci Award, and now it is in competition in Seville with the other 15 titles in the Official Section. The female lead in the film, Judith Chemla, will present this adaptation of the homonymous novel by Guy de Maupassant in the Lope de Vega Theater. In the line of the great romantic and naturalist tales of the 19th century, in Une Vie the conflict revolves around a leading female character, that of a young woman who fights against social conventions and restrictions, in search of freedom and self-determination.
Javier Gallego, the presenter of the radio show ‘Carne Cruda’, will be the host at the SEFF opening and closing galas in 2016 and his group, Forastero, will provide the sound track for the opening gala. They will offer an entertaining, light hearted start to a week in which the city will be able to enjoy the best in auteurist European cinema, and also meet with its leading actors and directors in the cinemas, through the activities and meetings
programmed by SEFF until 12th November.
