Janus Films announced today "Wim Wenders: Portraits Along The Road," a major touring retrospective of the legendary German director's work. It will launch at the IFC Center in New York (with Wenders present for select screenings) on August 28, and travel to a 15+-city tour of the nation's top art houses, with stops in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Columbus, Houston, Austin and Vancouver.

Wim Wenders is cinema's preeminent poet of the open road, soulfully following the lives of people as they search for themselves. During his more than forty-year career, Wenders has directed films in his native Germany and across the globe, and has made dramas both intense and whimsical, mysteries, fantasies, and documentaries. This retrospective of twelve of his films (including 11 new restorations) spans his entire career from his early works of the New German Cinema (KINGS OF THE ROAD; ALICE IN THE CITIES) to the art-house blockbusters of the '80s that made him a household name (PARIS, TEXAS; WINGS OF DESIRE) to his inquisitive looks at world culture (TOKYO-GA; BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB) - rediscover the vast cinematic world of Wim Wenders.
